A classic watch for every occasion
The Breitling Transocean visibly belongs in First Class: it radiates an aura of luxury and understated elegance, both inside and out. The model’s relatively refined appearance makes it stand out among the classic Breitling watches, which are famous for their sportive and classy design.
The very first Breitling Transocean, released in 1958, was designed to follow in the footsteps of the legendary aviation chronograph Navitimer. The name “Transocean” reflects the spirit of the time: The ‘50s are known as the golden age of transcontinental flights.
Just under half a century later, in 2010, Breitling decided to once again include the classic watch in its watch catalogue, the Chronolog. It was a modern watch with an eye on the past: The Transocean was consciously designed in the style of the ‘50s, thus lending it a certain timeless feel.
As often seen with Breitling, the spectrum of the Transocean Collection covers several impressive models, the choice from which leaves room for individuality and imagination.
A tribute to ‘50s watch design
The marvellous scope of the Breitling Transocean
The Breitling Transocean is available in a variety of models so that every watch enthusiast can easily discover their personal favourite. The Transocean line is a tribute to watch design of the ‘50s, and so stylistic elements of this period can be found in each of its models. For example, while the glass of the Transocean is made from solid sapphire, it has consciously been designed in a domed form, which recalls the acrylic crystal of older aviation watches.
Every Transocean watch is water resistant to 100 metres, with the exception of the Transocean Chronograph 1461 (Ref. A1931012) and the Transocean Chronograph QP (Ref. R2931012), which are watertight to 50 metres – still more than enough for everyday wear. Whether you need the chronograph subdial, date window, calendar or moon phase feature – the Transocean Collection offers the right format of Haute Horlogerie for any enthusiast.
/Individuals who prefer puristic elegance will find a perfect companion in the Transocean Day & Date (Ref. A4531012). Whether used for recreation or business, the simplistic design of this 43mm wristwatch renders it a timeless piece fit for any occasion. The “Day & Date” refers to the easily readable dial with additional displays for the date and the day of the week. The case is available in steel (Ref. A4531012) or 18-carat rose gold (Ref. R4531012). There are several options for the bracelet as well: leather, crocodile leather, steel, and rose gold.
/The Transocean 38 (Ref. A1631012) deftly combines modernity and timeless elegance. Due to its versatile size of 38mm, it can be worn both as a men’s watch and a ladies’ watch. The models with a mother-of-pearl dial (Ref. A1631012) or diamond hour markers (Ref. A1631012), bring out the feminine side of the Transocean 38. Whether lady or gent, the sleek Transocean 38 looks good on every wrist. The subtly slanted bezel and the gently curved lugs add character while the twin-aperture date window below the 12 marker lends additional symmetry to the already very harmonious-looking dial.
/Elegance, reliability, and functionality: The Transocean Chronograph 38 (Ref. A4131012) manages to unite these famous Breitling qualities with a truly exquisite exterior. With its 38mm diameter, the model looks good on even the most delicate of wrists. This classic format allows the Transocean Chronograph 38 to be worn both as a men’s watch and a ladies’ watch. The models with a diamond-studded bezel seem especially feminine (Ref. A4131053 and Ref. A4131063), while a special sense of uncompromising luxury is achieved by the version in 18-carat rose gold with a diamond-studded bezel (Ref. R4131053). This sort of magnificent decor naturally demands a higher price, but any wish can be fulfilled with the wide variety of available dial designs, case materials, and wristbands.
/When it comes to collectors of classic chronographs, the Transocean Chronograph is an ideal model (Ref. AB015212), as it offers the perfect combination of first class workmanship and functionality. The 43mm watch is designed in the same puristic style as the other Transocean models, yet the stopwatch feature lends a more ‘technical’ flair. At the heart of the Transocean Chronograph, the classic aesthetics of the ‘50s chronographs meet contemporary style: The result is a watch of timeless beauty that combines form and function perfectly. To top this off, the calibre B01 movement represents Breitling’s grand innovative power.
/The Transocean Chronograph GMT (Ref. AB045112) was a limited edition and, therefore, is one of the collection’s very exclusive models. Only 200 units in rose gold and 2000 units in steel have ever been offered for sale. The transparent sapphire bottom of the case allows direct viewing of the singular movement: a Breitling calibre 04 ticks at the heart of the Transocean Chronograph GMT. This watch is a true masterpiece of horology.
/The Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitime (Ref. AB0510U4) not only charms every watch enthusiast, it also displays all the time zones of the world with one glance. The map at the centre of the dial symbolizes the watch’s international character. Thanks to a clever mechanism, both the local time and the Universal Time can be adjusted easily via the crown. The Transocean Chronograph Unitime is both functional and luxurious: the perfect watch for the globetrotter and cosmopolitan.
/The Transocean Unitime Pilot (Ref. AB0510U6) is a GMT chronograph with a satin-finished steel case, whose technical look closely follows the tradition of Breitling aviation watches. The dial appears sleek and organized despite the universal time display, and fully expresses the splendour of this artful watch. The Transocean Unitime Pilot is equipped with the first-class calibre B05 movement. Limited to 1000 units, the special edition of the Transocean Unitime Pilot exhibits especially strong character with both its case and bracelet as black as the night sky (Ref. MB0510U6).
/The Transocean Chronograph Edition (Ref. AB015412) is another exclusive limited edition of only 2000 units. The design of this watch is based on the model from 1958, which has been reinterpreted according to contemporary stylistic elements in this special edition. The Transocean Chronograph Edition boasts a bi-coloured dial with two counters, a double back with a clasp cover that opens onto a sapphire case back, and a calibre B01 movement, all of which contribute to the watch’s aura of pure luxury.
/The Transocean Chronograph 1461 (Ref. A1931012) offers the perfect interplay of chronograph and 4-year calendar. Thanks to the latter feature, the date has to be set once every leap year (once every 1461 days), regular wear provided. The clever mechanics of the Breitling watches culminate in the limited edition Transocean Chronograph QP (Ref. R2931012), which includes a perpetual calendar with dials showing the date, day of the week, calendar week, month, season, leap year, and even the moon phase. This exclusive edition is something special, not least because of its elegant rose gold case, and the marvellous way in which the case can be perfectly complemented with different dial options in black, silver, or blue.
/The Breitling Transocean Chronograph 1915 can be seen as a celebration of the Swiss manufacturer’s history: In 1915 Breitling presented the first autonomous chronograph pusher. Prior to then, it was common to set the chronograph using the crown. The Breitling Transocean Chronograph toys with the stylistic language of the early 20th century and inspires vintage enthusiasts with its unique appearance. The watch, which is a limited edition of 1915 units, is equipped with a decidedly non-vintage movement: the calibre B14 is a first-rate modern movement and is, of course, C.O.S.C-certified.
