The invention of the mechanical stopwatch
While most watch manufacturers primarily produce wristwatches, Hanhart looks back on a different success story. For a long time, mechanical stopwatches were the main focus of the German manufacturer. Before Hanhart launched its first affordable stopwatch in 1926, such watches were usually costly one-offs. It was not until the Hanhart stopwatch called Amigo that this sub-sector of timekeeping was sustainably industrialised. In this way, the prices of stopwatches slowly dropped, making them accessible to a wider audience. Soon, Hanhart stopwatches were affordable for everyone.
