Purchasing a luxury watch is a matter of trust. Whether new or pre-owned, beyond brand, design and value retention, one factor matters above all: absolute certainty regarding authenticity and condition. This is exactly where the CHRONEXT workshop process begins. Every watch undergoes a structured inspection by certified watchmakers and is only approved for sale after a comprehensive technical and visual examination.

CHRONEXT Workshop Process: Authenticity, Quality and Servicing at the Highest Level

Incoming Inspection and Authentication

Every watch begins its journey at CHRONEXT with a thorough incoming inspection. It is opened and examined in detail. The authentication process goes far beyond a visual check: movement details are inspected, reference and movement numbers are verified and matched against the internal database. In addition, each piece is compared with previously authenticated models.
Certificate of Authenticity and Transparency

After successfully passing inspection, every watch receives a CHRONEXT Certificate of Authenticity. This ensures that buyers know their watch has been professionally examined and meets internal quality standards. Especially when purchasing luxury watches online, this level of security is essential.
Quality Standards as the Basis for Sale
Particularly for customer-owned watches, authenticity alone is not sufficient. Each watch must also meet the high CHRONEXT quality standards. Only if its condition, technical performance and appearance are convincing will it be included in the assortment.
Technical Analysis with Professional Equipment

The workshop uses high-precision measuring instruments and testing machines comparable to those used by major watch brands. Rate accuracy, amplitude and other performance data are analyzed with precision. Based on these results, it is determined whether a fine regulation is sufficient or a complete overhaul is required.
Defining the Necessary Work
The watchmakers transparently define which measures are required. The spectrum ranges from cleaning and fine regulation to a full overhaul of the movement. In extreme cases, this may involve complete disassembly, restoration and replacement of individual components such as the mainspring, gear train wheels, balance wheel, springs or screws. All work is carried out exclusively by certified watchmakers.
For customer-owned watches, any work is of course only performed after approval by the owner.
Overhaul and Professional Cleaning

If a full service is required, the movement is completely separated from the case and disassembled down to the last component. Each individual part is inspected, cleaned and replaced if necessary. Cleaning is carried out using professional chemical processes at the highest standard to remove even the finest residues.
The movement is then carefully reassembled. Precisely calibrated lubricants, oils, greases and specialized treatments such as Epilame are applied to restore optimal functionality.
Refinishing of Case and Bracelet

Where possible, the case and bracelet are also disassembled and refinished. In-house polishing restores surfaces through polishing, satin-finishing or other treatments. For many brands, CHRONEXT follows specific “brand formulas” to reproduce the original finish as accurately as possible.
After refinishing, the watch undergoes another inspection and ultrasonic cleaning to remove even the smallest particles.
Multi-Day Testing and Water-Resistance Check
Following servicing, the movement is tested over several days. A watch winder simulates daily wrist wear, different positions are tested and the power reserve is monitored. Depending on the model, this testing phase can last between two and eight days.
Finally, the watch is tested for water resistance according to manufacturer specifications. Gaskets are lubricated or replaced, screw locks are secured and all functions are checked once again.
Final Quality Control
Before a watch is released for sale, it undergoes a second independent final inspection by another certified watchmaker. Precision, water resistance, functionality and the visual integrity of the dial and movement are carefully examined. Only when all criteria are fully met is the watch approved.
The CHRONEXT workshop process combines authentication, technical precision and expert craftsmanship at a professional level. Every watch is opened, inspected, tested and, if necessary, fully overhauled. Buyers receive not only an authentic luxury timepiece, but one that has been technically and visually verified to meet the highest quality standards.
