Tudor Style – popular luxury watches from Switzerland

"I spent several years thinking about producing a wristwatch that our dealers could sell at a lower price than our Rolex models but which would be just as reliable." With the foundation of Montres TUDOR S.A., Hans Wilsdorf succeeded. Today as then, the company's collections such as the Tudor Style are among the most popular luxury watches in the world. And, with good reason.

Hans Wilsdorf: Anyone who thinks they have heard this name before is spot on. Watch fans know that Hans Wilsdorf was the founder of the luxury watch brand, Rolex. However, what many people do not know is that in 1926, the watch company 'Veuve de Philippe Hüther' registered the Tudor brand on Hans Wilsdorf's behalf. Its first watch was launched in Australia in 1932. From 1936, Wilsdorf personally took over the brand and finally in 1946 officially founded Montres TUDOR S.A. and went on to launch its first full collection.

The name Tudor says it all: the brand name was chosen to pay tribute to the strength and unity of the British royal family. The rose on the dial - used until it was replaced by the coat of arms in 1969 - alluded to the graceful beauty of Tudor watches.

Tudor Style

Perfectly designed watches for men and women

With the Tudor Style watch, the manufacturer has successfully achieved a perfect balance between elegance and performance. And not only that: while the Tudor Prince Oysterdate and the Tudor Submariner series still show a strong resemblance to the mother brand, Rolex then the Tudor Style certainly stands out from the typically sporty designs of Rolex watches. It underlines the individual character of chronometers from Tudor.

Typical of the Tudor Style is the striking combination of the bezel and pointer design: models with a fluted bezel are equipped with second, minute and hour hands in baton style while the Tudor Style with a smooth bezel features narrow Dauphine hands.

The collection is also characterised by its democratic approach: all models are available with small diameters of 28mm and 34mm as well as with larger ones of 38mm and 41mm. This makes the Tudor Style watch equally appealing to both men and women while also offering an extensive case selection that complements both slim and fuller wrists. Small 28mm Tudor Style automatic models are powered by the caliber 2671 while other sizes contain a self-winding mechanical movement with the 2824 caliber.

A reinterpretation of classic elegance

The design of the Tudor Style series is as classic as it is contemporary and combines both to create a successful vintage look. The dials which are set with diamonds and yellow gold indices are available in several exciting colours. Lacquered or polished dials in silver, champagne and black have a more traditional appearance while dark blue or Bordeaux red dials make an interesting contrast with their indices in yellow gold. Rare models such as the Tudor Style reference 12113-1 even offer a cream-coloured mother-of-pearl dial.

Tudor Style watches with stainless steel cases and yellow gold bezels are water-resistant to 10 bar. This striking two-tone Tudor Style design can be found with stainless steel bracelets, making them particularly elegant and modern. For watch lovers who like things a little more traditional, models with high-quality leather straps are also available. The date display at 3 o'clock remains a feature of all Tudor Style models.
