Omega Ref. 311. Classic Hesalit-Moonwatch

The Omega reference numbers have become longer and longer over the decades: The first Omega Speedmaster had the reference CK 2915, later the references became six-digit (e.g. ST 145.022), then eight-digit (e.g. 3570.50.00). Since 2014 the 14-digit reference 311. is on the market. Behind this is nothing less than the current version of the classic Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with Hesalit, i.e. Plexiglas. At CHRONEXT you will find the most popular models for immediate delivery. Free shipping included.

The reference 311. in detail

The current 14-digit Omega reference numbers follow the so-called PIC-14 system. Omega Ref. 311. follows the fixed scheme AAA.BB.CC.DD.EE.FFF and has the following meaning:

  • 311: Collection code (311 = Speedmaster)

  • 42: Diameter (= 42 millimetres)
  • 30: Caliber and complications (= Cal. 1861, chronograph)
  • 01: Colour of dial and if applicable stone setting (= black)
  • 005: Model-specific code (= Hesalite glass)

The current classic

Omega Speedmaster Ref. 311.

The Omega Ref. 311. is a very special reference, as it is the classic Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, which has been produced in almost unchanged form for decades.

While nearly all watch manufacturers have over time started to equip all models with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals, Omega still produces the classic hand-wound Moonwatch with Hesalite glass in addition to a sapphire glass Moonwatch (Ref. 311. The Hesalit-Moonwatch with the reference 311. is still the only wristwatch that has NASA certification for so-called EVA missions (Extra Vehicular Activities).
