A classic yet modern timepiece

Longines has been convincing clients since 1832 with high-quality, precise, and elegant watches that remain popular to this day. The first Admiral timepiece was launched in the late 1950s – today, it is one of the most popular vintage created by the company thanks to its timeless design and exquisite longevity. The original Admiral Longines has been supplemented with many successor models throughout the years. The second-hand market currently delights with an extraordinary variety of Admiral models. The timepieces embody a classic design that is distinguished by high-grade materials including gold and leather. The timepieces also convince with a sporty stainless steel variation (Ref. 8581-1).

2007 marks the year that the youngest Admiral was presented. As part of the Longines Sport Collection, the timepiece represents an everyday instrument that can be adorned during countless occasions. A highlighting feature of the latest Admiral models is the red accents, which are incorporated in the chronograph subdials or the GMT hand. The Longines Admiral Chronograph (Ref. Tradition since 1832

Longines was founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier Switzerland. The company headquarter location has remained the same since the inception of the company. The brand name refers to the land on which the Longines factory was built. It was called "Les Longines", which translates to “the long meadows”.

Initially, Longines specialised is the production of pocket watches and later began to manufacture ladies pendant watches. Eventually, Longines began to produce reliable wristwatches that increasingly gained in popularity. Throughout the history of the brand, Longines has become engaged in both the measurement of sports activities and the precision of scientific expeditions. Among other things, Longines at one time worked closely with the aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh, who in 1927 crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
