The Breitling Superocean
A classic amongst dive watches
The close connection between Breitling and the oceans is mirrored in the logo of the Swiss manufacturer - the anchor with the winged B-initial. Breitling’s breakthrough in the field of diving watches took place as early as 1957 when the company launched a watch waterproof to 200 metres.
Prior to 1957, the year marking the birth of the Superocean, Breitling was mainly sought out for its aviator watches, e.g. the Chronomat and the Navitimer. Since the creation of the Superocean, Breitling has been able to assert itself against powerful competitors of the watch industry with its reliable and robust diving watches.
Today, the Superocean is the star of the Breitling diving watch family, Aeromarine, which is distinguished for its unique, functional timepieces. Available in a broad range of colours, sizes, and designs, the Breitling Superocean collection caters to all tastes. Amongst a series of new watches and second-hand models, admirers of elegance and sophistication will surely find the right wristwatch with the Breitling Superocean.
Discover the depths of the ocean
With a Breitling Superocean on the wrist
The latest Superocean is stylish, powerful, and versatile. Breitling livened up the simple yet elegant design of the Superocean with chic colour accents. Clients have the choice between five different models: Superocean 42, Superocean 44, Superocean Chronograph II, Superocean Chronograph M2000, and Superocean Chronograph Steelfish. Admirers of simple watch dials will enjoy the Superocean 42 (Ref. A1736402), a considerably smaller Breitling model with a 42-millimetre-case. The watch face is comprised of characteristic hour numerals and is framed with a ratcheted bezel that is available in five different colours.
The watch face of the slightly larger Superocean 44 (Ref. A1739102), also offers a clear and simple design. The tasteful appearance does not do the phenomenal performance of the diving watch justice: the Superocean 44 is waterproof to 2,000 metres and is equipped with a helium escape valve, ensuring the watch’s endurance in the diving chamber after a dive.
Well-versed Breitling-collectors are often interested in earlier versions of the Superocean, e.g. the 42-millimetre-big Superocean (Ref. A17360), the Superocean Professional (Ref. A17045 or Ref. A17345), or the 41,5-millimetre-big Superocean (Ref. A17040 or Ref. A17340). The original versions differ greatly from today’s Superocean while impressing nonetheless with their robustness and strength. Today, these watches cannot be found new, but the second-hand market offers many interesting options for used Breitling wristwatches.
Superocean Chronograph II, Superocean Chronograph Steelfish, and Superocean Chronograph M2000
Diving chronographs by Breitling
Timing in the depths of the ocean: the Superocean collection offers three remarkable chronographs that are characterised by style and functionality. The Superocean Chronograph II (Ref. A1334102) that succeeded the Superocean Chrono (Ref. A13340), does not only offer a case waterproof to 500 metres, but is also a COSC-certified and highly precise chronograph movement. The watch face and the bezel of this model are available in a wide range of colours.
Strong as steel: the robust and sophisticated technology of the Superocean Chronograph Steelfish (Ref. A13341) is mirrored in its steel case and bold steel bezel. This wristwatch can be worn in depths of up to 500 metres and - like all Breitling models - is equipped with a COSC-certified movement. Amongst loyal Breitling-clientele, the predecessors of the Superocean Chronograph Steelfish are also in high demand, e.g. the 42 millimetre Superocean Steelfish (Ref. A17360), the 44 millimetre Superocean Steelfish (Ref. A17390), or the Superocean Steelfish X-Plus (Ref. A17390). In contrast to the latest Superocean Steelfish, these watches are equipped with a bezel that features Breitling’s characteristic rider tabs. All Superocean Steelfish models share uncompromising quality and an impressive waterproofness to several hundred metres in depth. Today, these classic models can only be bought second-hand - nonetheless, the market offers an interesting range of used watches for very alluring prices.
The Superocean M2000 (Ref. A73310A8) is an outstanding timepiece that belongs to the current Superocean collection. This men’s watch is equipped with an elaborate mechanism that ensures easy handling underwater, making it an ideal dive watch. The chronograph is controlled by a patented magnetic push piece system, guaranteeing a timepiece that is fully operational underwater. The Superocean M2000 is driven by a SuperQuartz-movement, which is ten times more precise than a common quartz movement.

The Superocean Héritage
The design of the ‘50s combined with modern technologies: the Superocean Héritage can easily entice those who have a particular liking for vintage designs. The Superocean Héritage is based on the classic Breitling Superocean and delights with elegant simplicity as well as extensive functionality. In order to live up to high expectations, Breitling attached the watch to a braided steel bracelet and decorated the
