From Rolex to Omega, James Bond has always had an eye for fine timepieces. This watch is no different, as its versatility allows for it to be worn in all situations – be it a high-speed chase or high-stakes poker game. Here, we review the latest limited edition 007 timepiece from Omega and let you in on why this watch is worth adding to your collection.

Elegant and reliable, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-axial 41 mm is the latest limited edition Bond timepiece to accompany any aspiring spies or avid Bond fans. Limited to only 7,007 pieces, it is a great way to fuse the world of fine timepieces with classic films.

The history of Omega and James Bond

Omega has been providing James Bond with timepieces for his missions since 1995. Before then, in all of the movies and even in the original Ian Fleming books, James Bond’s timepiece of choice was the trusty Rolex submariner. Since the franchise switched from Rolex to Omega, it is clear where 007’s allegiance lies as shown by the dialogue in Casino Royale between Bond and Vesper Lynd, when she attempts to guess the brand of the secret agent’s timepiece of choice.

Vesper Lynd: Rolex?

James Bond: Omega.

Vesper Lynd: Beautiful.

A vibrant aesthetic explained

Very few people are aware of the fact that James Bond was a Commander in the Royal Navy prior to joining MI6 and becoming a secret agent.  The Omega Seamaster Diver 300 M Commander’s Watch James Bond Ltd. pays homage to Bond’s career before  MI6. This is seen clearly in the colourful layout of the watch. With its white dial and blue/red bezel, the watch celebrates the well-known colours of the Royal Navy.

Not only is this watch commemorative of the Royal Navy’s colours, but it is also very practical. This limited edition timepiece fits well with Bond’s lifestyle. A stainless steel case and ceramic bezel ensure that the rugged tool watch is never out of place – whether diving underwater or dodging bullets from the villains.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-axial 41 MM Commander's Watch – what you can expect

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-axial 41 MM Commander's Watch comes with a 41mm stainless steel case, which is elegant yet large enough to command a presence on the wrist. The white ceramic dial provides a clean appearance, especially when paired with the blue indexes. Upon closer inspection, the seconds hand with the 007 counterweight and the Seamaster branding in a vibrant red truly make the dial pop. When you turn the watch over, you can see the movement through the exhibition caseback, as well as the infamous 007 logo engraved on the oscillating weight. This watch comes with two bracelets – a stainless steel version and a NATO strap alternative in the Royal Navy colours. Thus, the owner of the watch is able to wear this timepiece in countless settings, dressing their watch up or down depending on the situation they find themselves in.

A mechanical masterpiece

This limited edition watch is self-winding. It is powered by the Omega 2507 with the Co-Axial escapement and has a rhodium-plated finish which can be seen through the exhibition caseback. This movement permits the watch to have a power reserve of 48 hours. Rather than having a multitude of complications, the Commander’s watch keeps it very simple by displaying only the hour alongside the date.

Yea or nay to the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-axial 41 MM Commander's Watch?

Overall, this timepiece is not only a great watch but also a great collector’s piece for any avid James Bond fans out there. At a reasonable price point, it can appeal to everyone whether it is a young enthusiast finding his first watch to start a  collection or someone older with an extensive watch collection. Lastly, given the limited production quantity, the users of this watch can enjoy it knowing there will be limited depreciation.
