Baselworld 2019: 20 years of the Financial District Watch

Baselworld 2019: 20 years of the Financial District Watch

Nils Rau

The Frankfurt company Sinn is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the elegant Financial District Watch this year. The result: a special model with a moon phase and full calendar display. We were able to get to know all the new releases so keep reading and discover the latest from Sinn!

20 years Financial District Watch: The anniversary reference 6012

The first Financial District Watch was launched in 1999. It was also the first watch of the company to carry the designation of origin "Frankfurt am Main" on its dial.

This year, Sinn celebrates the Dresswatch anniversary with the new Sinn 6012, a Frankfurt Financial District Watch with moon phase and full calendar display and chronograph complication. The 6012 will be available in two versions: One is an anniversary model limited to 50 pieces with an 18-carat rose gold case, the other is an unlimited stainless steel version. Both cases have a diameter of 41.5 millimetres.

Sinn has given the black, galvanic dial a sunburst finish that changes pleasantly depending on the viewing angle and elicits a beautiful sparkle from the watch. Another highlight is the moon-phase disc made of mother-of-pearl. Accordingly, the moon depicted on the disc creates a matte, magical glow.

The automatic Sinn caliber SZ06 (base ETA 7751) can be viewed through a sapphire crystal back. The front of the dial is also protected by a robust sapphire crystal that is resistant to scratches.

The new Reference 6012 obviously cannot go without the signature Sinn water resistance of up to 10 bar and pressure resistant.

The new Sinn 6099 B

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Financial District Watch, Sinn has launched another chronograph model of the elegant line. The Frankfurt Financial District watch model 6099 B, limited to 200 pieces, has a blue dial which, like the new reference 6012, has a beautiful sunburst finish. Despite the sunburst finish, the chronograph's time readability and time measurements are very clear and the blue leather strap harmonises very nicely with the blue tone of the dial.

The 41.5 millimetre watch displays three time zones on a 12-hour basis. The watch tends to wear a little smaller and should therefore also be suitable for slimmer wrists. The cover glass and case back are made of sapphire crystal.

The movement is based on a Sellita SW 500. The watch is water resistant up to 10 bar and also resistant to low pressure.

New editions of the diving chronograph Sinn 206

Diver fans will also get their money's worth this year: with the 206 ARKTIS II and the 206 St Ar, Sinn is presenting two diving chronographs at this year's Baselworld, which at first glance look similar, but nevertheless have very different characters.

The 43 millimetre Sinn 206 ARKTIS II impresses with an arctic blue dial with an impressive sunburst finish, the powerful oscillation of which is difficult to describe in words. This watch is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, as Sinn introduced the first version of the 206 ARKTIS in 1999. This was the first diver's chronograph to feature temperature-resistant technology, which allowed it to operate between -45°C and +80°C. The 206 ARKTIS was the first diver's chronograph to be equipped with a temperature-resistant technology. The pressure-resistant Sinn 206 ARKTIS II is water-resistant to 30 bar (certified by DNV GL) and is powered by an ETA Valjoux 7750.

The Sinn 206 St Ar is closely related to the 206 ARKTIS II. Accordingly, it also measures 43 millimetres and like its blue counterpart, has an ETA Valjoux 7750. The black, galvanised dial makes its appearance in a much simpler and more classic manner than that of the 206 ARKTIS II. Worth mentioning is the black leather strap with red contrast stitching, whose colour harmonises perfectly with the Ar lettering (Ar is the drying technique developed by Sinn). This gives the watch a certain vintage charm. The water-resistance is up to 30 bar (certified by DNV GL), the 206 St Ar is pressure-resistant.

Green metallic: The new Sinn 104 St Sa A G

A pilot's watch is a must in the aeronautical history of Sinn: The 41 millimetre Sinn 104 St Sa A G is limited to 500 pieces and has a green dial with metallic particles. This creates an effect that is also familiar from metallic paint on cars - only in a slightly more intense form, since the particles are larger. Together with the brown leather strap, the watch has a pleasantly characteristic vintage style. The watch is equipped with an ETA 2836-2 and a day date display at three o'clock. The Sinn 104 St Sa A G is water-resistant up to 20 bar and pressure-resistant.
